How to Use This Site

First time here? Welcome! I hope you find some useful information here, and subscribe using the RSS feed.

What you’ll find here is a 1-2-3 process for attracting more visitors, and achieving more leads from your website or blog.

You won’t have to read through a bunch of SEO gobbleygook, or try to interpret a bunch of buzzwords.  What I’m doing here is distilling the essence of months of study of SEO techniques, and giving you plain English descriptions of the steps you must do to obtain good rankings with Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Blogs are, by nature, setup to show you the most recent post first.  And since what you’ll learn here is a series of sequential steps for optimizing your website, the blog format is not really the best to use.  But, it allows me to focus on giving you great content , rather than spending a lot of time on the format .

So here’s a little blurb on what you’ll want to read and apply, in the proper sequence.

Over on your left, you’ll see a number of categories and subcategories.  Those are great generalities… but here’s the sequence I’d suggest:

  1. Getting More Leads - An overview of the time & effort it’ll take you to attract more traffic to your website or blog.
  2. Benchmarking your site -  What kind of traffic are you getting today?  How will you know if your SEO efforts are working? Metrics help a lot.
  3. Keyword Research - Some ideas on what keyword phrases you might want to rank for; and tools to help you discover others.   Don’t make the mistake of starting a SEO effort without knowing what keywords you’ll be chasing!
  4. Competitive Research - Who’s ranked #1 by the search engines in your market?  A little look at their website might give you clues as to how they achieved that position.
  5. On-page SEO - An overview of the elements of your website that can be tweaked to invite more attention from the search engines.
  6. Backlinks - Googlejuice for your website.

That should get you started…

To your wealth!
